As people of color, we cannot completely control the actions of individual racists or racist institutions yet, but we can control how we respond to them and how we let them affect us so we can one day get to the point where they no longer have the power to matter. We can still try to use education and conversations to reduce the prevalence of racists and racism, but our goal should be to empower ourselves to the level where their thoughts and actions no longer have any power over us.
