Another installment in our Legendary series. The Black Panthers were most successful revolutionary Black Nationalist group in recent history (after the UNIA), but despite all the propaganda shown in the media and movies about them, they were at heart a community building organization lead by warrior scholars. They had free breakfast and after-school programs for the youth, taught communities to defend themselves from police brutality, organized and educated people to know their rights and exercise their political power effectively, and much more. They also taught us a lesson about how far the government will go to destroy positive Black organizations that truly empower their people.
